Tsunami

Definition
Tsunami
海啸
Tsu meaning harbor, and name meaning wave. Tsunami is a harbor wave.
Subduction zone
俯冲带
When oceanic and continental crash, the heavier one, which is oceanic plate go down.
Continental plate
陆地板块
Its a land top of the water.
Oceanic plate
海洋板块
Its a land under water.

Tsunami happens when there’s a violent disturbance deep below the ocean surface, like earthquake and volcanic eruption. Zone that two plate crash is a subduction zone. When oceanic plate and continental plate crash, the heavier oceanic plate slips under the lighter continental one and cause an earthquake.Tsunami is a series of water waves caused by the displacement of a large volume of a body of water.Tsunami waves move a lot of water and carry a lot of energy, so they can travel long distances.

1. Why does tsunami happen? Tsunami happens when there’s a violent disturbance deep below the ocean surface, like an earthquake or volcanic eruption.

2. What happen when oceanic and continental plate crash? The heavier oceanic plate slips under the lighter continental.

3. What create when oceanic and continental plate crash? It create mountains, trench, and volcanoes

4. What is tsunami? Tsunami is a harbor wave.

5. What create tsunami? A tsunami is usually caused by a powerful earthquake under the ocean floor.

Plate Tectonics
板块构造
Sections of crusts
Pangaea
盘古
All lands together
Outer mantle
外地幔
Plates float around on a layer of molten rock called outer mantle.
Continental drift
大陆漂移
Continents moving apart slowly.
Boundary
边界
Between two plates.
Divergent Boundaries
分散
When two plates move away from each other.
Convergent Boundaries
会聚
When two plates come together.
Transform Boundaries
转换
Two plates move side by side.

Long time ago, the world is one big continent, which is PangaeaTectonic plate, these

plates float around on a layer of molten rock called outer mantle. As time went by, the

continents are moving away from each other, which is continental drift. When the plates

are moving, will occur different type of boundaries. Between two plates is boundary

Divergent boundaries are where plates are moving apart. Convergent boundaries are

where plates are moving toward each other. Sometimes one plate will go under another

and create mountains. Transform boundaries are two plates move side by side.

  1. What happen when two continental crust come together?  When two continent crash, the heavier one go under another.
  2. What are three type of boundaries? Divergent boundaries, convergent boundaries, and transform boundaries.
  3. What is the different between divergent and convergent boundaries? Divergent boundaries is two plates move away from each other, convergent boundaries is two plates come together.
  4. What is Pangaea? Pangaea is a big continent, all the lands are together.
  5.  What's create when two continent crash? Mountains.

Phase of the Moon

  • Phases of the Moon - 月亮的阴晴圆缺 - different shapes of the moon.
  • Lunar revolution - The moon move around the earth.
  • Lunar revolution length - The moon move around the earth it takes 29.5 days for one revolution.
  • Waxing - 增加 - The shape of the moon increase.
  • Waning - 减少 - The shape of the moon decrease.
  • New moon - 新月 - no moon; when we see nothing.
  • Gibbous moon - 凸月 - the shape of the moon is more than half.
  • Quarter moon - 半月 - half moon.
  • Crescent moon - the shape of the moon is less than half.
  • Full moon - 满月 - a big and round moon.

Summary
Phases of the moon which is different shapes of the moon. When the moon move around the earth we called lunar revolution. It takes 29.5 days for one revolution. New moon is no moon; when we see nothing. Then, the shape start to change. Waxing crescent moon is the shape of the moon increase but less than half, look like a banana. First quarter, which is half moon. Waxing gibbous moon is when the shape of the moon increase and more than half. Finally is full moon, a big and round moon. Again, the shape start to change and decrease. Waning gibbous moon, the shape of the moon decrease and more than half. Third quarter, the moon become half again, but is different position. Waning crescent moon, the shape is decrease and less than half. Finally back to new moon. This is all about moon phases.

How is the earth affected by movement(revolution)?

The moon affected the (ocean)tides on earth. When the earth rotates and the moon move around it.
The gravity pulls the ocean's waters towards itself, and cause the high tides. When the moon passes, it's gravity no longer pulls the waters, and the tides become lower.
